ABOUT THE PANASONIC THEATRE
651 Yonge Street

The new, state-of-the-art Panasonic Theatre in Toronto has been built expressly for Blue Man Group. Operated by Clear Channel Entertainment, it exists on the site of the old New Yorker Theatre (the original front facade has been refurbished). The site has a long entertainment history. The previous New Yorker Theatre, built in 1911 first as a private residence, was then converted to a movie theatre, The Embassy, in 1934. It has also been called The Astor (coincidentally, the same name as the Blue Man Group theatre in New York), The Festival, and The Showcase when it was a movie cinema. It became a legit theatre venue in 1993 when it was renamed The New Yorker Theatre and re-opened with the off-Broadway production of Forever Plaid.

The Panasonic Theatre is in the heart of downtown Toronto on Yonge Street, close to fashionable and trendy Yorkville and the campus of University of Toronto. Surrounded by many shops and restaurants, the new Panasonic Theatre continues the long tradition of the past century, now entertaining Blue Man Group audiences for years to come.
